PFL / About League

 
For the purpose of improvements and developments of activity of football clubs of Uzbekistan, and also under the recommendation of the Asian Football Confederation, in 2008  The Professional Football League of Uzbekistan has been created.
Today in Uzbekistan following competitions among professional and semiprofessional clubs are held:
·         The championship among professional clubs, named Oliy Liga (Major League) (14 clubs);
·         First division tournament among semiprofessional clubs (24 clubs);
·         National Cup among professional and semiprofessional clubs;
·         B-Team’s tournament;
·         The second stage of tournament among the clubs of the Second division  (the best teams acquire a right on sharing in a following season in the First division);
·         Regional Cup winners tournament
·         Championship of Uzbekistan among clubs of group of preparation of clubs of the First division, Major league, and other football schools.
The purposes and goals of PFL:
The system of professionalization of football in Uzbekistan is led, first of all, for maintenance of successful performance of the Uzbek clubs in Asian Leagues, and also for national team strengthening by high-class players, for successful performance in competitions under the aegis of AFC and FIFA.
