WLA Representatives to Visit Uzbekistan in June to Launch First-Ever League Development Program

The Uzbekistan Professional Football League (UzPFL) is proud to announce that it has become the 45th member of the prestigious World Leagues Association (WLA). In a significant milestone, the UzPFL will also become the first participant in WLA’s newly launched League Development Program.

The World Leagues Association, formerly known as the World Leagues Forum, was established in 2016 and today brings together 47 professional leagues from across the globe. Uzbekistan is one of eight Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member nations represented in the organization, alongside Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. WLA works closely with FIFA, FIFPro, and other key international organizations on league-related matters within the football industry.

The League Development Program, introduced this year, is designed to support member leagues by thoroughly analyzing their operational structures and offering tailored recommendations for growth and improvement. The UzPFL is honored to be the inaugural participant of this important initiative, reflecting its commitment to advancing professional football in Uzbekistan.

Preparatory activities for the program will commence in May. Mr. Stanislav Shtipkov, Head of the Development and Intelligence Department at WLA, will initially work remotely in close coordination with UzPFL representatives to collect preliminary information. In early June, Mr. Shtipkov will travel to Tashkent to conduct an in-depth, on-site review of the League’s infrastructure and operations.

Following this, WLA General Secretary Mr. Jérôme Perlemuter and Mr. Tomáš Bárta, CEO of the Czech First League, will also visit Tashkent to participate in the League Development Program activities. During their stay, Mr. Perlemuter and Mr. Bárta will engage with representatives of Super League clubs, deliver key presentations, and hold strategic meetings with officials from the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) and the Ministry of Sports between June 11–14.

UzPFL is delighted to welcome these esteemed international experts to Uzbekistan and looks forward to utilizing their insights to further elevate the standards of professional football in the country.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration!
