The Uzbekistan Professional Football League (UPFL) has officially signed a partnership agreement with GotSport, a US-based sports technology company, to conduct the Superleague fixture draw starting from the 2026 season.
For many years, the Superleague draw has been conducted using the Berger system—a classic and widely respected mechanism designed to ensure equal treatment of all participating clubs. While this system has provided fairness and transparency, modern football realities have revealed its limitations, particularly in addressing logistical and operational challenges faced by clubs throughout the season.
The year 2026 marks a historic milestone for Uzbek football, as the Uzbekistan National Team will participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026. This will be followed by the AFC Asian Cup in early 2027. These major international tournaments significantly compress the domestic football calendar, making the Superleague schedule more demanding than ever before.
In light of these circumstances, the League has taken proactive steps by studying global best practices and modern trends in competition scheduling. As a result, UPFL has chosen GotSport’s advanced, AI-based scheduling technology to manage the Superleague draw.
GotSport’s system is designed to optimize league calendars by taking into account logistics, travel, sequencing of matches, and recovery periods, thereby reducing operational strain on clubs. Additionally, the new draw mechanism is expected to deliver a more balanced, competitive, and engaging season structure for football fans.
The Uzbekistan Professional Football League firmly believes that this partnership represents a significant step forward in the modernization of domestic competitions and will contribute to the sustainable development of professional football in the country.
