Tthe draw for the quarter-finals of the Uzbekistan Cup took place. Today, the League has finalized the fixture list for the month of August.
Previously, all rounds of the Superleague were scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. However, the start of the upcoming CAFA competition before the next FIFA dates disrupted the League’s plans for August. We hope that, as a country that has qualified for the World Cup, more serious attention and respect will be shown to the Superleague moving forward. It is also expected that future plans will strictly adhere to FIFA regulations and aim for professionalism in all matters.
The League has communicated its position to the Uzbekistan Football Association, and CAFA’s decisions will be discussed by the League with the AFC. In a competition involving 16 clubs, it is important that the plans of these clubs and those working within them are also taken into consideration.
Official matches in August were originally set to continue until August 29. Now, however, Matchday 20 will conclude on August 23, and some clubs, after a 20-day active stretch in the second half of the season, will enter a break of roughly the same length. On August 25–26, eight teams will compete for a place in the Uzbekistan Cup semi-finals.
While forming the schedule, the head coaches of Superleague clubs were contacted when necessary, and plans were also coordinated with the national team head coach, Timur Kapadze.
From now on, the League will closely monitor the draw date for the AFC club competitions. The opponents and away fixtures of clubs like Nasaf and Andijon will serve as the foundation for shaping the autumn schedule.
