IFAB Technical Director David Elleray to Visit Tashkent in January to Support Anti-Timewasting Initiatives

The Uzbekistan Professional Football League, in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Football Association, has been actively working to implement innovative measures aimed at reducing timewasting in football, as recommended by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Earlier this year, in July 2025, League representatives visited the headquarters of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States to study best practices. In November, they participated in the Annual Meeting of the World Leagues Association, where they engaged with IFAB’s Technical Director, Mr. David Elleray, following his insightful presentation on emerging trends in the global game.

After extensive consultations with stakeholders, the League is pleased to announce that a formal request for approval to implement these new anti-timewasting techniques has been submitted to IFAB for review at its upcoming meeting in January. 

As part of this process, Mr. David Elleray will visit Tashkent to conduct a seminar on these innovations and their practical application.
